A couple new headlights can take a car to old and beat looking to almost new again. Ignore the filth, I haven’t washed my car for a couple weeks, and it’s been to cold to be bothered to.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

I’m thinking of washing it, and come spring maybe fixing the small rust spots on the wheel arches.

Also here is the before and the why I got new headlights.

Super hazy, and the low beams stopped working because the insulation for the wiring was all cracked and basically fell off the wire.

Nice job.  How is the 9-3 treating you as a daily?

Not too bad, coming up on a year of ownership now, hasn’t left me stranded so far, and most repairs have been maintenance.

I t’s amazing how such a thing can make a car look old/er .

For me cleaning a car makes it look shiny, but the plastics are dull and let it down.

Clean the car and sheen the plastics and the tyres look dull and let it down.

Clean the car, sheen the plastics and the tyres and the wheelarches look dull and let it down.

Yeah, fortunately this car was well taken care of, and the plastics don’t look all that bad when cleaned up, its just been constantly near 0 degrees and I really don’t want to deal with having my car freeze shut when I finish washing it.

I’ve nearly bought a Saab twice.  The first was an early 9-3, the kind with the hatch, and it was priced right and was purchased hours after I test drove it.  The second was a 9-3 like yours, but when I drove it the CEL was on.  I asked the dealer to look into it and call me.  Never heard back.  I really like the way they drove though.

Its a comfy car. I bought mine and it had a clogged cat with a nasty misfire, so I did coils plugs and put a catless downpipe on it, since I bought it I’ve had to do tires, brakes, a coolant pipe that broke, and headlights.

I paid 700$ for the car when I bought it, and don’t think I got a bad deal overall. It seems fairly reliable and handles the snow alright, so I can’t complain much.

Are yes, dry the rubbers and door shuts, panel wipe any excess oils, then treat with Einszett Gummi Pfledge Stift. Restores the rubbers and stops the doors freezing closed.

Aw I miss my saabs after seeing this post. Had three of them and loved each dearly. Based on the front lip and side rockers I would say it’s an Arc?

Thats a good track record so far.  I paid a lot more than that for my e46 and have about the same amount of work either already done or about to be done.

I was actually tossing up between this an a BMW wagon, the wagon was cheaper, lower miles, but looked like it needed more work, and wasn’t really my style of car after looking close at it.

The Saab wasn’t even really for sale, and he wanted 1200 for it originally, but since he’s a friend we negotiated a little and I got the car for 700$
